Cinder's Story...

Cinder
(Sept. 24,1988- Feb. 13, 2002)

Titles Earned: CGC, AMBOR CD,
VCCX, WETT, TDI

Cinder was the first to join the R`ioghail Clan.  She came to us when she was four years old.  She is a German Shepherd/Golden Retriever Cross.  She is a love sponge and is happiest when she is around her people.  Her favorite toy is her tennis ball and she loves to play hide-n-seek.  Thanks to Cinder I have discovered AMBOR The American Mixed Breed Obedience Registration.  This is a wonderful organization which provides opportunities for mixed breed dogs and their owners to participate in a wide variety of performance events.  They welcome the all American dog where other's don't, and give talented dog/handler teams the opportunity to compete and earn titles.  I have since learned of other organizations which accept and promote the accomplishments of mixed breed dogs.  You can follow Cinder's links to learn more about various opportunities for mixed breed dogs.

When she is not busy being the house princess and bossing the boys around, Cinder loves to go backpacking, hiking, swimming and skijoring.  She likes showing off her talents in obedience at fun matches and just loves to play agility games.  She refuses to believe she is getting too old to have fun so we make an effort to do a little bit of everything she enjoys.  She doesn't seem to notice that the jumps are lower, obstacles easier, and hikes shorter these days...she's too busy having fun. Look here for some pictures of Cinder enjoying her retirement years.

With a tear in my eye; I had to say goodbye to my precious girl on Feb. 13, 2002.  She was 13 1/2 years young at the time and thankfully lived a full, happy and healthy life clear up to her last days.
She was the first to join the clan and the first to teach me the many joys of sharing my life with dogs.  It is only fitting that she also be the first to leave the clan and in so doing teach me how to deal with
the sorrow of separation.  Cinder will always be in my heart and memory.  She taught me the ropes and leaves her legacy for the clan to continue on.  She will be patiently waiting at the bridge upon my arrival.  I am sure she will  look after all of the other fur kids that are still waiting for their loved ones.  Take care my princess...
                     Until we meet again...
